Suki & Sam's Clifton Engagement Session | Bristol Wedding Photographer

There's a particular kind of quiet that settles over Clifton in the early hours of a summer morning. The light is still soft, the gardens are quiet, and the city feels like its only just starting to wake up. That's exactly the kind of morning I was lucky enough to share with Suki and Sam — and honestly, it was one of those shoots I'll be thinking about for a long time.

Suki and I first connected through a mutual love of books, writing, and all things creative, so when I say I wasn't the least bit surprised by how whimsical and beautiful this shoot turned out, I genuinely mean it. There's something about people who are drawn to storytelling that comes through in front of a camera. They feel things fully, and it shows.

We wandered through the gardens as the morning light filtered softly through the trees, down the vine-covered archway, one of my newly discovered and favourite tucked-away spots in Clifton — and eventually found ourselves in the wildflower meadow, thick with cow parsley and buttercups. The light was incredible, the flowers were everywhere, and the two of them were just completely at ease with each other.

There was laughter, there were quiet moments, there were hands intertwined on a park bench and a lift that had everyone grinning. It was a morning that felt perfectly right for them.

Why Clifton is one of Bristol's best engagement shoot locations from a Bristol Wedding Photographer

Clifton has so much variety within a short walk: formal walled gardens, wild overgrown meadows, leafy archways, old park benches, and the kind of dappled green light that makes every shot feel like something from a film. Early morning is ideal — the crowds haven't arrived, the light is golden and soft, and the whole place has a magical, unhurried quality to it. If you're based in Bristol and looking for a location that feels both intimate and visually stunning, Clifton is hard to beat.

Here's a little preview from Suki and Sam's morning — I hope you love them as much as I do.
